Max chega a 50 vitórias na carreira; 15ª no ano.
Com a desclassificação também de Charles Leclerc pelo mesmo motivo, a Williams pontua com seus dois pilotos, Alexander Albon e Logan Sargeant. O americano da Flórida conquistou os primeiros pontos da carreira logo em sua primeira corrida em casa. Na lista de abandonos, constam ainda Fernando Alonso (problema no assoalho), Oscar Piastri (superaquecimento) e Esteban Ocon (problema nos freios). Além disso, Albon foi punido com 5s por infringir os limites de pista, mas retornou à zona de pontuação com as desclassificações após a corrida.

Levou 28 voltas para que Verstappen assumir a liderança. Com uma bela manobra, o tricampeão mergulhou no momento exato, onde o britânico não conseguiu nem se movimentar para se proteger do ataque. A volta 35 marcou a segunda ida de Norris aos boxes, a Red Bull, em resposta, chamou Verstappen para o pit, com Sainz seguindo o ‘trenzinho’. Hamilton parou na volta 39, acabando com o ‘sonho’ de uma única parada. Lá na frente, Norris conseguiu superar Leclerc – com pneus muito mais gastos. Hamilton, que parou por último entre os primeiros colocados, conseguiu dar o bote em Leclerc sem dificuldades.
No finalzinho, Hamilton e Norris ficaram lado a lado na briga pelo segundo lugar. O piloto da McLaren fez um movimento muito arriscado na hora de ‘trancar’ pela posição e quase acertou a Mercedes 44, mas no fim, o heptacampeão conseguiu dar o ‘X’ e assumir o segundo lugar. A F1 retorna já no próximo fim de semana em 29 de outubro com o GP do México, 19ª etapa de 22 desta temporada. Depois, desembarca no Brasil para o GP de São Paulo em 5 de novembro.
