Os Jogos Olímpicos de Tóquio terão limite de 10 mil espectadores por evento, desde que o total de presentes não superar 50% da capacidade da arena. O anúncio foi feito pelo Comitê Organizador local nesta segunda-feira (21). Apesar da medida, ainda não está descartada a possibilidade de competições com portões fechados, caso o número de novos casos da Covid-19 aumente na região, como disse a governadora de Tóquio, Yuriko Koike.
“Se houver uma mudança dramática na situação da infecção, talvez precisemos revisar a norma e considerar a opção de não ter espectadores nos locais de competição”, afirmou.
A decisão foi tomada em reunião online entre autoridades representando o governo japonês, o governo metropolitano de Tóquio, o Comitê Organizador Local, o Comitê Olímpico Internacional (COI) e o Comitê Paralímpico Internacional (IPC). Em relação aos Jogos Paralímpicos, ainda haverá uma definição, que foi adiada para o dia 16 de julho.
Em março, o comitê organizador vetou a presença de torcedores estrangeiros nos Jogos Olímpicos.
Adiada em um ano, a abertura dos Jogos Olímpicos 2020 está programada para o dia 23 de julho e o encerramento acontece em 8 de agosto. Já os Jogos Paralímpicos serão entre 24 de agosto e 5 de setembro.
