A Conmebol realizou, nesta sexta-feira (9), o sorteio dos grupos da Copa Sul-Americana edição 2021. Participante da competição, o Bahia irá enfrentar rivais da Argentina, Uruguai e Bolívia no grupo B do campeonato. O Bahia irá lucrar 900 mil dólares na nesta fase, cerca de 5 milhões de reais na atual cotação.
Os outros clubes brasileiros que estão na Sul-Americana, além do tricolor baiano, são: Athlético-PR, Atlético-GO, Corinthians, Ceará e Red Bull Bragantino. O Grêmio pode também integrar esse quadro caso seja eliminado pelo Independiente del Valle na pré-Libertadores e o Santos caso for superado pelo San Lorenzo.
O Bahia ficou no grupo B ao lado de Independiente (ARG), Guabirá Montero (BOL) e aguarda a decisão entre os times uruguaios Montevideo City e Fénix. Nesta fase, serão classificados apenas os líderes dos grupos que irão para as oitavas de final enfrentando os terceiros colocados da fase de grupo da Libertadores.
Caso seja eliminado ainda na fase de grupos, o Bahia sairá da competição com 900 mil dólares (300 por cada jogo feito em casa), o que seria cerca de 5 milhões de reais na atual cotação da moeda americana. Caso seja classificado aí o Bahia conquistará outros prêmios a cada fase. E se for campeão, o tricolor terá lucrado ao todo cerca de 40 milhões de reais.
