O lutador baiano Carlos ‘Boi’ (foto), natural de Feira de Santana, tem estreia marcada no Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) para amanhã, 18, na Ilha da Luta, em Abu Dhabi. Às vésperas do combate contra o moldavo Sergey Spivak, o feirense diz que a expectativa pela primeira luta no UFC, de número 250, ganhou maior intensidade por causa da pandemia do coronavírus.
“Não estamos vivendo uma situação normal. Na minha cidade, Feira de Santana, fechou tudo, inclusive as academias. Precisei me virar. Transferi a academia para a varanda da minha casa. Trouxe tatame, manople e dois companheiros de treino que ficaram de quarentena comigo. Mesmo assim não foi um camp completo. Já existe a ansiedade natural da estreia, essa situação fez com que eu ficasse mais ansioso”, revela.
O lutador contratado pelo UFC desde 2017 falou do período em que permaneceu afastado por dopping após condenação da Agência Antidopagem dos EUA (USADA) pelo uso de esteroide.
“Foi um momento difícil até eu assimilar e cair na real. Mas eu tenho certeza de que aprendi e me fortaleci muito. Tanto na parte mental quanto no meu jogo. Aproveitei esse período para evoluir o meu wrestling, a minha defesa de queda”, explica.
Tendo Sergey Spivak pela frente, Boi, que está invicto há oito lutas, faz elogios ao seu adversário e aponta o que espera do combate e da categoria. “Ele é um cara completo, técnico. Mostrou isso na luta contra o Tai Tuivasa, que ele impôs o jogo dele. Mas o meu esquema de lutar é o antijogo dele e acho que ele se perde um pouco com lutadores mais agressivos. Acho que ele não aguenta a pressão e isso é justamente o que faço de melhor”, avalia.
“Estou chegando para somar no que está faltando na divisão. A categoria é muito parada, chega a ser monótona. Estou chegando para mudar a cara dela”, garante o baiano.
