O Sul-coreano Cho Jae-beom, ex-treinador de patinação em velocidade no gelo foi condenado nesta quinta-feira (21) a 10 anos e seis meses de prisão por assédio sexual contra Shim Suk-hee, de 23 anos, dona de duas medalhas olímpicas na modalidade nas Olimpíadas de Inverno de PyeongChang, em 2018. O ex-treinador ainda precisará cumprir 200 horas de tratamento para agressores sexuais.
Shim Suk-hee denunciou o ex-treinador em 2019 por abusá-la desde os 17 anos. Na época, o treinador já havia sido demitido da seleção sul-coreana cerca de um ano antes, da preparação para as Olimpíadas de Inverno de 2018. Outras cinco atletas de patinação sul-coreanas que não tiveram seus nomes revelados também relataram ter sido abusadas por seus treinadores.
