Foi difícil digerir. “Quem me ajudou foi minha família, meu filho, minha mãe e meus irmãos”, comentou.
Outro apoio importante veio de onde ele menos esperava: o público, tão afeito a julgamentos nas redes sociais. Isaquias contou que esperava por uma condenação geral por ter ficado sem medalha, mas recebeu carinho. “Eu recebi mais 40 mil comentários: “guerreiro”, “você foi bravo”, coisas assim. Não recebi nenhuma mensagem de ódio, nada, de nenhuma pessoa do Brasil. Então, isso acabou dando a um ânimo a mais. Quando cheguei no apartamento [na Vila Olímpica] percebi que não perdemos porque o Jacky é novo, mas porque o nosso adversário foi melhor. Eu acabei ficando feliz. Depois, a gente veio aqui ontem [quinta-feira], treinamos aqui na raia e hoje fiz uma ótima eliminatória”, afirmou.
Ele se referia à sua estreia individual nos Jogos. Nesta sexta-feira pela manhã (noite de quinta no Brasil), o triplo medalhista olímpico (duas pratas e um bronze) avançou diretamente para a semifinal ao vencer sua bateria no C1 1000m com o tempo de 3m59s894 – o melhor entre todos os tempos das cinco baterias. Os dois primeiros colocados entre os sete canoístas da segunda de cinco baterias garantiam a classificação antecipada.
A fase semifinal do C1 1000m acontece na noite de sexta-feira (de Brasília), com duas baterias, às 21h44 e 21h52 (de Brasília). Na mesma noite, às 23h53 (de Brasília), será realizada a final, que vale medalhas. “Vou vomitar sangue para conseguir o ouro. Vou dar meus 100% e deixar tudo na canoa”, disse.
