O próximo domingo ficará marcado como o dia mais importante da temporada do futebol amador da Bahia. Na oportunidade será conhecida a campeã do Intermunicipal 2019. O título, cobiçado por centenas de municípios baianos, será disputado, mais uma vez, por Itapetinga e Itamaraju.
A seleção campeã levará o troféu Ednaldo Rodrigues Gomes, uma homenagem ao ex-presidente da Federação Bahiana de Futebol e atual vice-presidente da Confederação Brasileira de Futebol. O nome do dirigente, para os troféus de campeã e vice-campeã desta edição, foi sugerido pelas próprias Ligas participantes da competição.
Natural de Vitória da Conquista, Ednaldo, também conhecido como “Nadinho” pelos mais íntimos, deu os primeiros passos no futebol naquele Município, como atleta amador do União Atlético Clube (Décadas 70-80). Mas, foi fora das quatro linhas que traçou sua história no cenário do futebol baiano. Foi Diretor de Futebol da Liga Conquistense (1979), ano da conquista do título daquela seleção no Intermunicipal, e Presidente da referida Liga na Década de 80; Diretor do Departamento de Futebol Intermunicipal da Federação Bahiana de Futebol – FBF (1993-1996); Vice-Presidente da FBF (1997-2000); Presidente da FBF (2001-2019) e desde abril atua como um dos Vice-Presidentes da CBF.
A edição 2019 começou a ser decidida no último domingo (1º). E deu empate no primeiro jogo. Com gols de Draid e Naian, as adversárias ficaram no 1 a 1. No jogo de volta, ambas as equipes precisam de um simples triunfo para conquistar o troféu de campeã. Já um novo empate leva a decisão para os pênaltis.
