O Brasil começou o Mundial paralímpico de natação a todo vapor, com vagas garantidas em oito finais. No primeiro dia de classificatórias, em Singapura, 10 atletas brasileiros entraram em ação, e sete deles passaram para as disputas de medalhas, que ocorrerão na manhã de domingo (pelo horário de Brasília). Samuel Oliveira (50m livre S5), Gabriel Bandeira (200m livre S14), Thomas Matera (50m livre S11), Patricia Santos (50m peito SB3), Lídia Cruz (50m peito SB3), Douglas Matera (100m costas S12) e Alessandra Oliveira (50m livre S5 e 100m peito SB4) se classificaram. Carol Santiago, que não precisou entrar na água na noite de sábado, estará na decisão dos 100m costas S12.

A competição em Singapura se estenderá até 27 de setembro e é o primeiro Mundial de natação do ciclo das Paralimpíadas de Los Angeles 2028. A delegação brasileira foi à Ásia com 29 nadadores – 16 homens e 13 mulheres. Apenas três competiram nas primeiras baterias classificatórias e não avançaram às finais: Bruno Becker (50m peito SB2), Tiago Oliveira (50m livre S5) e Matheus Rheine (50m livre S11).
Até hoje, a melhor campanha do Brasil em Mundiais paralímpicos de natação veio na edição da Ilha da Madeira, em Portugal, em 2022. Na ocasião, o país terminou na terceira posição do quadro de medalhas, com 53 pódios (19 ouros, 10 pratas e 24 bronzes).
