O Palmeiras embarcou na noite desta terça-feira para a disputa do Mundial de Clubes da Fifa, no Catar.A delegação palestrina deixou a Academia de Futebol por volta das 20h30 (de Brasília), com festa de torcedores em frente e também aplausos dos funcionários do clubes.
Depois, os ônibus chegaram ao Aeroporto Internacional de Guarulhos às 21h20, sendo recebidos com uma linda festa, com muitos sinalizadores alviverdes e bandeiras.
Por causa dos protocolos sanitários, obviamente não houve interação entre elenco e torcedores, e os veículos entraram diretamente para a pista. Agora, o Verdão decolou às 23h em voo fretado até Doha, capital do Catar, onde ficará durante a disputa do Mundial de Clubes.
Ao todo, 28 atletas viajaram: os 23 inscritos na competição e mais cinco suplentes. Pelo regulamento, o clube pode realizar trocas na lista até 24h antes da estreia mediante possível lesão de algum atleta
O atacante Breno Lopes, autor do gol que garantiu o título da Libertadores, não pôde ser inscrito por motivos burocráticos – o regulamento permite somente a participação de jogadores registrados até o último dia da janela de transferências internacionais da entidade (9 de novembro de 2020), e Breno foi contratado dia 11 de novembro. No entanto, ele viajou com a delegação.

O Palmeiras estreia no Mundial no domingo, às 15h (horário de Brasília), quando enfrenta pela semifinal o vencedor do jogo entre Tigres, do México, e Ulsan Hyundai, da Coreia do Sul, que será disputado nesta quarta-feira, às 11h. Também participam do torneio o Bayern de Munique, da Alemanha, o Al-Duhail, do Qatar, e o Al-Ahly, do Egito.
