Daniel Congré, ex-jogador do Montpellier e atualmente com 40 anos, foi encontrado gravemente ferido em sua residência, na cidade de Pérols, na última segunda-feira (9). O atual coordenador esportivo do Lyon apresentava uma facada próxima ao coração. Apesar da gravidade do ferimento, seu estado de saúde foi estabilizado e ele segue sob cuidados médicos.
De acordo com a imprensa francesa, Congré foi localizado inconsciente e com grande perda de sangue, sendo rapidamente socorrido pelos bombeiros e levado ao Hospital Universitário de Montpellier.
A polícia judiciária abriu uma investigação para apurar o caso, cujas circunstâncias ainda não foram totalmente esclarecidas. O jornal Le Parisien informou que a promotoria de Montpellier trabalha com a hipótese de tentativa de suicídio.
Formado nas categorias de base do Toulouse, Congré atuou pelo clube entre 2004 e 2012, antes de se transferir para o Montpellier, onde defendeu a equipe por nove temporadas e chegou a ser capitão. Ao todo, disputou mais de 300 partidas com a camisa do clube. Ele se aposentou do futebol profissional em maio de 2024.
Poucos meses depois, em outubro, foi anunciado como coordenador esportivo do Lyon, com a responsabilidade de “reforçar o apoio técnico à comissão técnica e assegurar a implementação da estratégia esportiva junto aos jogadores”, conforme comunicado oficial do clube.
