A seleção brasileira de boxe finalizou sua participação no Cologne World Cup no último sábado (13) com um saldo de nove medalhas conquistas. Seis delas são atletas baianos que estiveram representando o Brasil na competição realizada na Alemanha.
Os baianos Beatriz Ferreira (60kg), Keno Machado (81kg), Edison Araujo (69kg), Isaias Ribeiro (75kg) conquistaram medalhas de ouro, enquanto Hebert Souza (75kg) e Ronaldo Silva (52kg) ficaram com o bronze. Além deles, Jucielen Romeu (57kg) e Wanderson de Oliveira (63kg), também somaram mais dois outros pela seleção brasileira e Abner Junior (91kg) foi vice-campeão, recebendo medalha de prata na sua categoria.
O Brasil ainda teve mais duas medalhas de ouro conquistadas no Grupo B da competição. Isso porque algumas categorias ficaram com excesso de atletas. Nessas categorias houveram quatro atletas e todos lutaram entre si para definir os campeões. Edson Araujo (69kg) venceu dois duelos e perdeu um, enquanto Isaias Ribeiro (75kg) venceu os três confrontos.
O Cologne World Cup teve a participação de 94 atletas de 11 países.
