Salvador ganhou seu primeiro centro de treinamento de boxe profissional nesta quarta-feira (14). O equipamento esportivo foi inaugurado no Largo de Roma, na Cidade Baixa, e leva o nome de um dos maiores atletas brasileiros, Waldemar Santana, também conhecido nas artes marciais como Leopardo Negro. No espaço, além de boxe, haverá aulas gratuitas de judô, karatê, taekondô, kickboxin, muay tai, MMA, jiu-jitsu, aikidô e kung fu. O evento de abertura do Centro de Boxe e Artes Marciais da Bahia contou com a presença do governador Rui Costa.
O centro esportivo será um espaço de referência na formação de lutadores profissionais com idade entre 7 e 17 anos, incentivo à prática esportiva e treinamento de atletas de alto rendimento. As inscrições em qualquer uma das modalidades esportivas oferecidas serão gratuitas e começam na próxima quarta-feira (21), presencialmente. Informações adicionais serão divulgadas no site da Federação de Boxe do Estado da Bahia.
O espaço é resultado da parceria entre as secretarias estaduais de Trabalho, Emprego Renda e Esportes (Setre), por meio da Superintendência dos Desportos da Bahia (Sudesb), e de Desenvolvimento Urbano (Sedur). Foram investidos mais de R$ 6 milhões no novo centro esportivo.
A obra foi executada pela Companhia de Desenvolvimento Urbano do Estado da Bahia (Conder). Com 2.762,69 m² de área, o equipamento conta com vestiários feminino e masculino acessíveis para pessoas com deficiência (PCD), refeitório, ringue, octógono, academia de musculação, sacos de pancada, pushball e toda a infraestrutura necessária para a preparação dos profissionais e para abrigar eventos oficiais.
