Um dia após confirmar a saída do treinador Thiago Santa Bárbara, a diretoria do Fluminense de Feira confirmou o seu novo técnico para a sequência do Campeonato Baiano 2021. Trata-se de José Carlos Santos da Silva, mais conhecido como Zé Carlos, ou Zé do Gol (foto) que atualmente trabalhava no futebol pernambucano na equipe do Retrô. A expectativa é de que ele comece a trabalhar amanhã já que o Touro do Sertão terá compromisso no próximo sábado diante da Unirb em Alagoinhas.
Baiano da cidade de Ipirá, Zé do Gol ganhou notoriedade em meados dos anos 90 quando jogava no Botafogo, onde ganhou o apelido. Pelo alvinegro, ele foi campeão do Campeonato Carioca de Futebol de 1997 e do Torneio Rio-São Paulo de 1998.
Apesar de seu número preferido ser o 7, chegou a atuar com a 9, enquanto Túlio Maravilha jogava no Botafogo, e com a 11, na sua passagem pelo Flamengo. Além dessas duas equipes cariocas, Zé Carlos atuou, entre outros clubes, como Guarani, Juventude, Sporting Braga de Portugal e o APOEL do Chipre. Em julho de 2008, assinou contrato com o Clube Desportivo Trofense, porém, em outubro rescindiu com o clube. No ano de 2010, ele se transferiu ao Botafogo-DF para fazer um trio com Sérgio Manoel e Túlio Maravilha. Em seu primeiro jogo pelo Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas do Distrito Federal contra o Brasiliense ele deixou sua marca.
Depois de encerrar a carreira nas quatro linhas, ele começou a trabalhar como auxiliar-técnico no Santa Cruz/PE com o então técnico Vinícius Eutrópio, que posteriormente o levou para trabalhar no Bolívar da Bolívia. Voltou ao Santa Cruz, para trabalhar novamente como auxiliar-técnico, mas ficou por pouco tempo já que recebeu um convite para trabalhar no Retrô.
De volta ao Estado natal, Zé Carlos tem uma missão complicada: tirar o Fluminense das últimos posições no Campeonato Baiano e ainda buscar uma classificação para a fase semifinal da competição e assim garantir um calendário cheio de competições para 2022.
