A Federação Bahiana de Futebol confirmou o adiamento da abertura da Série A do Baianão 2020 para o dia 22 de janeiro. A mudança foi um pleito da rede de televisão detentora dos direitos de transmissão da competição. A emissora solicitou a alteração para conciliar a tabela com sua grade de programação e viabilizar a transmissão dos jogos do Esporte Clube Bahia e do Esporte Clube Vitória.
Os clubes participantes do estadual concordaram com o adiamento, oficializado com a publicação da RDI-01/20 na segunda-feira (6). Para alterar a tabela, a FBF tentou, ao máximo, conciliar as datas com as de outras competições que estarão em disputa. Ainda assim, há casos em que Bahia e Vitória farão jogos em dias seguidos pelo Baianão e a Copa do Nordeste.
Mesmo assim, os dois clubes concordaram em mudar a tabela do estadual e garantiram através de documentos (leia abaixo) enviados à entidade, que possuem elencos para disputar as duas competições sem quaisquer prejuízos. Além da resolução, a FBF também divulgou a tabelada detalhada do campeonato. Datas, locais e horários dos jogos foram confirmados.
