Jailton Malhadinho tenta no próximo domingo emendar sua oitava vitória seguida no MMA, e de quebra pode levar o cinturão meio-pesado (até 93kg) do Thunder Fight, em São Paulo. Mas o objetivo está além: enfim assinar contrato com o UFC. No meio do caminho estará o experiente Edvaldo Gameth, 44 anos, atual dono do cinturão.
– Já tenho sete vitorias consecutivas, e quase lutei na Ilha (da Luta, em Abu Dhabi). Não lutei por alguns detalhes. O que falta agora é só o matchmaker do UFC me mandar o contrato para assinar. Acho que depois dessa luta contra Gameth não tem para onde correr – disse o lutador baiano, de 29 anos, ao Combate.
A luta com Gameth custou para acontecer, segundo Malhadinho. Ele acredita que o adversário colocou alguns empecilhos para fechar o duelo. O Thunder chegou a querer casar a luta em 2020, mas o lutador paulista teria exigido que Malhadinho fizesse uma luta antes, e o baiano finalizou o ex-UFC Ildemar Marajó em outubro.
– No mesmo dia (da vitória contra Marajó), ele estava no evento e falou que lutava comigo. Quando foram fechar, disse que queria mais dinheiro, que sou um cara muito jovem e ele é experiente, dono do cinturão. Ficou naquele impasse a acabou não acontecendo. Em dezembro, meu empresário disse que tinha fechado, e falei: “Ele aceitou? Mas será que vai correr? Será que na semana da luta ele vai correr?”. Graças a Deus fechou e está caminhando tudo certinho.
Malhadinho é dono hoje de um cartel com 12 vitórias e duas derrotas. Já Gameth tem 37 vitórias e 29 derrotas. O lutador baiano prevê um jogo parecido como fez com Ildemar, quando o finalizou no primeiro round com um katagatame.
A expectativa de Malhadinho é grande para somar mais uma vitória e provar mais uma vez que o UFC é o seu lugar. No mês passado, ele acompanhou o peso-pesado Carlos Boi, seu companheiro na equipe Life, em Feira de Santana-BA, em sua luta em Abu Dhabi. Segundo ele mesmo contou, foi de “arrepiar”.
– Experiência única. Nunca tive uma recepção tão maravilhosa, e fui como córner de Boi. A organização do UFC é perfeita, tudo no horário certinho. É uma experiência que quero ter e vou ter, com fé em Deus vou fazer parte do time brasileiro do UFC. Quando cheguei na arena me arrepiei todo, fiquei todo me tremendo. Falei: “Léo (Pateira, empresário), se já queria participar disso aqui, agora que quero mesmo!”.
