Amanda controlou bem o primeiro round, conectando mais golpes e pontuando bastante. Aldana levou perigo com um bom cruzado, mas a campeã absorveu bem e seguiu no controle com chutes, minando as pernas da mexicana. No terceiro round, Amanda investiu na luta de solo, aplicando boas quedas e fazendo o ‘ground and pound’. A campeã manteve o domínio nos rounds seguintes, tanto em pé quanto no chão. No fim, Amanda Nunes levou a vitória por decisão unânime (50-44, 50-44 e 50-43) e surpreendeu ao anunciar sua aposentadoria do esporte.
Após o duelo, Amanda falou emocionada: “Hoje eu empato o recorde do Anderson Silva (de defesas de cinturão) e é a noite perfeita para me aposentar e viver feliz para sempre. Minha mãe tem me pedido muito para fazer isso há algum tempo, ela não aguenta mais. Preciso passar mais tempo com minha família no Brasil. Quando me tornei campeã dupla foi inacreditável. Eu venho de uma cidade pequena no Brasil, Pojuca, na Bahia, que ninguém sabe onde fica. Lutadores brasileiros, arrumem suas coisas e venham para cá conquistar mais títulos!
