Em busca de uma nova oportunidade na Fórmula 1, Mick Schumacher está em negociações com a Cadillac para integrar a equipe que fará sua estreia na categoria em 2026. Aos 26 anos, o piloto alemão, filho do heptacampeão mundial Michael Schumacher, falou abertamente sobre o avanço das conversas com a escuderia norte-americana e demonstrou entusiasmo com o projeto.
Schumacher elogiou o plano estruturado da Cadillac e revelou otimismo com a possibilidade de fazer parte da equipe.
“Sim, obviamente as conversas estão rolando. A comunicação tem sido muito positiva. É um grande projeto, há uma quantidade fantástica de pessoas que eles já contrataram para isso, é um projeto incrível, uma grande história. Então, é algo que me faz sentir honrado de fazer parte, negociando, e é uma ótima posição para se estar”, afirmou o piloto.
Atualmente competindo no Mundial de Endurance (WEC) como piloto da Alpine, Mick esteve no Brasil neste fim de semana para disputar as 6 Horas de São Paulo, no Autódromo de Interlagos. Ao lado de Frédéric Makowiecki e Jules Gounon, o trio terminou em nono lugar na categoria Hypercar.
Além de Schumacher, a Cadillac avalia outras opções para formar sua dupla de pilotos. Nomes como Sergio Pérez, Felipe Drugovich, Valtteri Bottas, Guanyu Zhou, Colton Herta e Alex Palou também são especulados nos bastidores da equipe.
A entrada da Cadillac na Fórmula 1 foi oficializada em março deste ano. A escuderia será a 11ª do grid a partir da temporada 2026, após cumprir os critérios exigidos pela organização da categoria. O projeto será conduzido em parceria com a TWG Motorsports e com o apoio da General Motors.
Inicialmente, a equipe competirá com motores fornecidos pela Ferrari até 2029, quando a própria GM/Cadillac passará a fabricar suas unidades de potência para a F1.
Mick Schumacher fez sua estreia na Fórmula 1 pela Haas, onde correu nas temporadas de 2021 e 2022. Ao longo de 43 corridas, seu melhor resultado foi um sexto lugar conquistado no Grande Prêmio da Áustria, em 2022. Após deixar o grid, assumiu o papel de piloto reserva da Mercedes e passou a competir no endurance com a Alpine.
