Uma história de mais de 40 anos foi encerrada. O Bahia anunciou oficialmente, na tarde desta sexta-feira (4), que vendeu o imóvel no qual está localizado o Centro de Treinamentos Osório Villas-Bôas, popularmente conhecido como Fazendão. De acordo com o divulgado pelo Bahia, o Fazendão tem área superficial de 125.463 m² e a área anexa, de 3.200,50 m². O Esquadrão já não utilizava o Fazendão desde o fim de 2019, quando decidiu se mudar para a Cidade Tricolor, equipamento mais moderno e com espaço para ampliação. Em contrapartida ao fim da relação entre o clube e o equipamento, o Bahia tem negociações avançadas para comprar um terreno na Via Metropolitana, onde será construído o novo CT.
Em 2020, o Conselho Deliberativo do Bahia aprovou o edital da venda do Fazendão. Naquele momento a gestão entendia que não tinha condição de arcar com os custos da manutenção de duas estruturas de grande porte.
A ideia era usar o dinheiro da venda para pagar dívidas trabalhistas. O clube chegou a receber uma oferta de R$ 22 milhões pelo terreno em 2021, que foi aprovada em assembleia pelos sócios, mas os planos foram abortados após o início da negociação com o Grupo City para a transformação em SAF. Após o acordo com o fundo árabe, tanto a Cidade Tricolor quanto o Fazendão tiveram as posses passadas para o novo sócio.
