O presidente da Fifa, Gianni Infantino, recebeu um pedido da Uefa para alterar, mais uma vez, a regra de mão na bola a fim de dar mais autonomia aos árbitros e evitar que os jogadores sejam punidos injustamente. Em carta enviada a Infantino, a qual a The Associated Press teve acesso, o presidente da organização europeia, Aleksander Ceferin, pediu que considerassem permitir que os árbitros voltem a determinar se um jogador agiu intencionalmente ou não.
O apelo de Ceferin veio após uma série de pênaltis marcados porque as bolas, ainda que involuntariamente, atingiram os braços estendidos ou levantados dos atletas. “A tentativa de definir estritamente os casos em que a mão na bola é uma infração resultou em muitas decisões injustas, que foram recebidas com frustração e desconforto pela comunidade do futebol”, escreveu Ceferin.
Na visão de Ceferin, a nova regra – alterada em março de 2019 – faz com que gols legais sejam anulados por toques acidentais. A expectativa do presidente é que a regra possa ser revista e modificada na reunião da International Board (IFAB) que ocorrerá no início de 2021. – Não há vergonha em admitir que, às vezes, as decisões que são feitas para o bem não atingem seus objetivos e devem ser revistas. Fazer isso certamente não prejudicaria os altos méritos e a credibilidade da IFAB.
