A Fifa anunciou nesta segunda-feira (29) em Dubai, durante o World Sports Summit, que a partir de 2026 haverá uma nova premiação para o futebol.
Em comunicado, a entidade não deixou claro se o The Best, seu prêmio anual que elege e homenageia os melhores do mundo, deixará de existir ou se sua nova criação será um complemento à cerimônia que já existe. O evento terá parceria com a Dubai Sports Council.
– Esta premiação mundial do futebol não será apenas uma cerimônia de premiação, mas uma forma inovadora de celebrar o futebol e homenagear os melhores jogadores do ano, dentro e fora de campo – disse Gianni Infantino, presidente da Fifa.
No último dia 16, em cerimônia realizada no Catar, a Fifa realizou o The Best e elegeu o francês Dembélé e a espanhola Aitana Bonmat como os melhores do mundo em 2025. A premiação acontece desde 1991
