Ex-santista é a novidade na convocação da Seleção Brasileira

A Seleção Brasileira está convocada para as próximas duas rodadas das Eliminatórias da Copa do Mundo FIFA Catar 2022. Nesta sexta-feira (14), na sede da CBF, o técnico Tite (foto) divulgou a lista com 24 jogadores para os confrontos com Equador e Paraguai. A novidade fica por conta do zagueiro Lucas Veríssimo, ex-Santos, que atualmente está no futebol português defendendo o Benfica pela primeira servirá à Seleção Brasileira.  

As partidas estão marcadas para os dias 4 e 8 de junho, respectivamente. “O momento é de ter contato humano com os atletas e repetir desempenho do jogo do Uruguai. Tentar retomar o padrão, que é o objetivo e a essência, desempenho, resultado e seguir vencendo”, projetou o técnico Tite.

Brasil e Equador se enfrentam no Estádio Beira-Rio, no dia 4 de junho, às 21h30. Quatro dias depois, também às 21h30 (horário de Brasília), será a vez de duelar com o Paraguai em Assunção. Com 24 jogadores convocados, a lista conta com um estreante. Trata-se do zagueiro Lucas Veríssimo, ex-Santos e atualmente no Benfica, de Portugual. Aos 25 anos, o paulista natural de Jundiaí terá sua primeira oportunidade com a Amarelinha. “O que traz o Lucas é o grande trabalho dele na reta final do Brasileiro, na Libertadores, disputando o título. O César Sampaio esteve com o atleta, nós observamos o atleta in loco. E a sequencia de trabalho dele no Benfica, ele chegou, se adaptou rapidamente ao clube. É um jogador que tem uma técnica elevada, que domina a posição com características boas. É um atleta que a gente vê com uma grande sequência de trabalho, com mais crescimento ainda, então a gente trouxe para observar de perto e poder nos ajudar”, avaliou o auxiliar técnico Cléber Xavier.

Líder das Eliminatórias Sul-Americanas da Copa do Mundo após o melhor início na competição em mais de 50 anos, a Seleção Brasileira contabiliza 12 pontos conquistados em quatro jogos disputados na competição. É a única equipe com 100% de aproveitamento até aqui. Na última rodada, o Brasil derrotou o Uruguai, fora de casa, por 2 a 0. Confira a lista de convocados:
