Arcebispo quebra preconceito e se diverte jogando capoeira

O arcebispo metropolitano de Feira de Santana, Dom Zanoni Demettino Castro virou tema de diversos comentários em redes sociais ao ter um vídeo publicado, onde ele participa de uma roda de capoeira O momento de descontração foi postado pelo próprio religioso. Nas imagens, ele entra na roda de capoeira e começa a gingar. Faz alguns movimentos abertos e chega até ir ao chão no momento que dividiu com dois capoeiristas. Pessoa que estavam no local pararam para ver e gravar.

De acordo com Dom Zanoni, o momento aconteceu no último sábado (6), quando ele estava em Salvador participando de uma apresentação de novos bispos e auxiliares, na região do Pelourinho. “O evento que aconteceu na Catedral da Sé já tinha terminado e quando eu estava passando no Pelourinho avistei os capoeiristas que disseram ‘padre, vem aqui abençoar a gente’. Fui e acabei jogando capoeira com eles de forma natural e espontânea”, afirmou.

O próprio religioso publicou o vídeo na sua conta do Instagram e lembrou: “A capoeira até 1937 era considerada um crime. Minha reverência ao Mestre Bimba, que com o seu protagonismo, desde 1932, levando a capoeira às academias, lutava contra esta odiosa expressão de racismo. Nesta oportunidade, faço memória ao Mestre Moa do Katendê, assassinado barbaramente em 2018 em Salvador. ‘Senhor, venho te ofertar coisa de negro’. Precisamos refletir sobre o assunto”. 

Dom Zanoni disse que nunca lutou capoeira, mas que valoriza muito essa manifestação cultural afro-brasileira. “A brincadeira teve uma repercussão grande, mas é importante porque eu sou bispo referencial na pastoral afro-brasileira, e nosso desafio é fazer com que as atividades do negro, que muitas vezes é rejeitada, deixada de lado, possa ser valorizada e resgatada”.

O fato do arcebispo metropolitano de Feira de Santana ter jogado capoeira não é novidade para Josiivaldo Pires (foto), ou simplesmente Bel Pires que é graduado em Historia pela UEFS, mestre e doutor pela UFBA. Mestre de capoeira, coordena o Malungo Centro de Capoeira Angola, entidade cultural que desenvolve trabalhos de capoeira na Bahia e Pará. Professor de Historia da África da UNEB, tem se dedicado aos estudos sobre populações negras, com vários livros e artigos publicados sobre história social da cultura. Membro de redes de pesquisadores de diferentes universidades brasileiras. Seu livro mais recente foi publicado pela Editora Mondrongo, em 2019, sob o título “O urucungo de Cassange: um ensaio sobre o arco musical no universo Atlântico”.

De acordo com mestre, a atitude de Dom Zanoni só comprova a força da capoeira em outros contextos. “Infelizmente muitos ainda olham com preconceito, mas esta atitude do arcebispo só reforça a ideia de aceitação da capoeira em outros eixos da sociedade, inclusive com a prática de pessoas ligadas a outras crenças. Se isso acontece é porque a prática independe da religião. O parabenizo pelo desprendimento e a sensibilidade em observar a capoeira de outro prisma, que não o do descaso e preconceito”, comentou.
