A Chapecoense levou a melhor sobre o Avaí e venceu por 1 a 0 na Arena Condá, pela oitava rodada da Série B do Campeonato Brasileiro.
Com o resultado, o time da casa chegou aos 16 pontos, na vice-liderança da competição, atrás apenas do Paraná, que tem dois pontos a mais, mas disputou também uma partida a mais.
O Avaí, com nove pontos, é o 11º colocado e perdeu a oportunidade de se aproximar do G4, que começa com o Cuiabá, com cinco pontos a mais.
O Avaí volta a campo na próxima sexta-feira, quando recebe a Ponte Preta, na Ressacada, em Florianópolis (SC), pela nona rodada da Série B. A Chapecoense, por sua vez, joga a final do Campeonato Catarinense, contra o Brusque, na Arena Condá, na quarta.
