O Brasileirão serie A foi eleito o terceiro melhor campeonato nacional da última década (2011-2020). Em ranking da Federação Internacional de Estatísticas e Histórias do Futebol (IFFHS), a Série A ficou atrás apenas da La Liga (Espanha) e da Premier League (Inglaterra), assumindo o posto de melhor competição nacional não europeia do mundo.
A terceira colocação reforça e reconhece o trabalho que vem sendo realizado pela CBF, pelas federações e pelos clubes do futebol brasileiro pela valorização e pelo desenvolvimento do Brasileirão Assaí. Na última década, a competição deu importantes passos dentro e fora de campo para evoluir cada vez mais desportiva e comercialmente.
Em 2019, a CBF implementou o árbitro de vídeo em todas as 380 partidas do Brasileirão. Foi nesta década, inclusive, que a CBF acertou parceria com a rede Assaí, que tem title sponsor garantido da competição até o ano de 2023. Em 2020, a CBF e os clubes celebraram um novo contrato de direitos internacionais para difundir o Brasileirão por diferentes países ao redor do mundo.
Além das ações extra campo, dentro das quatro linhas o Brasileirão também se destaca no quesito equilíbrio. Ao lado da Premier League, da Inglaterra, a Série A do Campeonato Brasileiro é o torneio, dentre os países que compõem o top 10 da FIFA, que contou com mais alternância de campeões na última década – cinco clubes levantaram a taça nesse período: Corinthians (3), Flamengo (2), Palmeiras (2), Cruzeiro (2) e Fluminense (1). Apenas Colômbia e Argentina coroaram um número maior de vencedores, mas nestes países a competição nacional coroa dois campeões por ano.
O ranking da década da IFFHS foi construído com a soma das pontuações que cada liga somou nas versões anuais do estudo. O levantamento é feito a partir de um cálculo envolvendo a pontuação dos cinco primeiros de cada competição e o coeficiente da FIFA do país ao qual ela pertence.
