O Caucaia Esporte Clube, time do interior do estado do Ceará, anunciou neste domingo (14) que está prestes a oficializa as solicitações de desistência para o Campeonato Cearense e o Brasileirão da Série D de 2021. O principal motivo apontado pelo campeão da Taça Fares Lopes 2019 é a perda do patrocínio da prefeitura de Caucaia. Caso a desistência seja confirmada, a vaga fica com o Barbalha. O Campeonato Cearense 2021 já começou e o Caucaia lidera a tabela da primeira fase e com a desistência deve ser rebaixado automaticamente.

“O Caucaia Esporte Clube torna a público, a sua atual situação dentro do departamento futebol profissional. É da sabedoria de todos que em razão ainda da pandemia do COVID-19, desde do ano passado até a presente data, sofremos impactos financeiros significativos, onde as únicas receitas do clube como bilheteria, patrocinadores, pouco a pouco foram diminuindo, chegando ao estado limite financeiro do clube. Um dos principais fatores para nossa situação é a não renovação do convênio entre o clube e a Prefeitura Municipal de Caucaia. Por conta disso e demais problemas existentes no dia a dia do clube, estamos a prestes a SOLICITARMOS junto a Federação Cearense de Futebol (FCF) a EXCLUSÃO DO CAUCAIA ESPORTE CLUBE NO ATUAL CAMPEONATO CEARENSE SÉRIE A 2021 e também de solicitar junto a Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF) a nossa DESISTÊNCIA no CAMPEONATO BRASILEIRO SÉRIE D – 2021, o qual seria o primeiro campeonato brasileiro da história do Caucaia Esporte Clube.
Buscamos muitas vezes, viabilizar uma reunião definitiva junto a SECRETARIA DE ESPORTE E JUVENTUDE, PODER LEGISLATIVO e PODER EXECUTIVO do município, para renovarmos o contrato de patrocínio e, por conseguinte, a participação honrosa em todos os campeonatos, representando de forma digna nossa cidade e munícipes. No entanto, o comprometimento financeiro necessário para prosseguirmos, a falta de apoio, a drástica redução de nossas receitas e as dívidas já assumidas, IMPEDEM-NOS DE CONTINUAR. Atualmente estamos liderando o Campeonato Cearense Série A 2021 e a poucos meses da inédita estreia em um Campeonato Brasileiro. Esclarecemos ainda que temos um projeto pronto, totalmente voltado as categorias de base (Futebol Amador), onde atingiríamos diversas localidades do município, com a participação de crianças e adolescentes da faixa etária de 13 aos 20 anos do município.
