Dois árbitros do boxe nas Olimpíadas de Paris foram afastados por suspeita de corrupção. Ainda de acordo com a imprensa britânica, Alisher Altayev e Yermek Suiyenish foram afastados no dia 4 de agosto e arbitraram 25 e 21 lutas em Paris, respectivamente. O The Times ainda afirmou que um relatório anterior aos Jogos apontou que Altayev tinha um “alto risco” para corrupção, enquanto Suiyenish era “risco médio”. O jornal informou também que o documento foi enviado ao Comitê Olímpico Internacional (COI) antes da competição, mas ainda assim os juízes supervisionaram diversas lutas.
Além de Altayev e Suiyenish, investigações apontam que mais nove juízes do boxe podem ter participado de atos de corrupção nas Olimpíadas. O COI e a Federação Internacional de Boxe ainda não se manifestaram sobre o caso. Suiyenish foi responsável pela arbitragem da luta entre Beatriz Ferreira e a irlandesa Kellie Harrington, que se tornou bicampeã olímpica nas Olimpíadas de Paris. Na categoria até 60 kg, Bia perdeu uma vaga na final ao ser derrotada por Kellie. A brasileira já tinha o terceiro lugar garantido por ser semifinalista e ficou com o bronze.
