Em meio aos preparativos para o início do ano que vem, no qual o Bahia de Feira inicialmente terá apenas o Campeonato Baiano por jogar, o Tremendão, agora com Oliveira Canindé de técnico, divulgou uma lista para a disputa do estadual com 26 jogadores, com algumas caras novas, mas a maioria remanescente da temporada de 2023, na qual a equipe foi eliminada nas quartas de final da Série D. Com confiança, Jodilton Souza (agora com o cargo de presidente sendo passado para seu filho, Tiago Souza) comentou sobre critérios para a montagem do elenco e expectativas para o 2024 do Tremendão.
“Esse ano estou mais otimista, porque a gente conseguiu manter o que nós tínhamos de melhor que disputou a Série D, por pouco não subimos e havíamos pontuado dezesseis atletas para trazer para o Baianão. Desses, só um não conseguimos. Com 15 atletas, evidentemente a gente teve que aumentar o salário porque o contrato só vai até maio, na competição do Baiano, porque nós perdemos infelizmente a vaga da Série D em 2024 e agora vamos tentar buscar, fazer uma grande competição e trazer a Série D para o Bahiao de Feira novamente, e a Copa do Brasil, porque há vários anos seguidos que a gente mantém esse padrão”, disse Jodilton.
Segundo o mesmo, a qualidade dos atletas, salários e compromisso com o projeto do clube foram os critérios usados para a formação do elenco: “A gente manteve uma base de jogadores mais experientes para quando os novos chegarem, sentir o ambiente mais favorável. Em cima disso a gente, durante a Série D, pontuou alguns atletas e conseguiu montar esse grupo”.
Jodilton também criticou o formato atual de disputa do estadual: “É uma competição ingrata. Montar um projeto, uma equipe, investir e disputar só nove jogos, onde apenas quatro classificam; teoricamente já há uma concorrência grande com a dupla Ba-Vi, então são oito equipes do interior brigando por duas vagas, é muito difícil. Agora a questão é o calendário nacional, que joga logo a Copa do Nordeste em fevereiro, aí vem a Copa do Brasil e eles tem que fazer um campeonato mais rápido, né? Acho que o ideal seria esse modelo em dois turnos, ou aumentar o número de equipes para doze ou catorze, com um turno só e um quadrangular final. Os regionais deveriam ter mais espaço, até porque se valorizou muito quando o presidente da CBF determinou que as vagas da Copa do Brasil sejam pela resultado dos regionais”.
Sobre as finanças, Jodilton completou: “O futebol aumentou muito os custos. Três anos atrás, eu fiz um orçamento de ‘X’, e hoje o orçamento passa de dois ‘X’. A gente teve que contratar jogadores mais qualificados, com salários melhores… A demanda é outra. A gente já tem um apelo público, com a televisão aberta transmitindo todos os jogos, vai ajudar a buscar algum patrocínio e vamos continuar a camapanha para aproximar o torcedor, pois o nosso reduto de um futebol é assim, bem pegado e a torcida vibrando”.
