Na noite desta segunda-feira (29), após a derrota em casa para o Ceará por 1 a 0 pelo Campeonato Brasileiro, Carlos Belmonte renunciou o seu cargo e não é mais diretor de futebol do São Paulo.

De acordo com fontes ligadas ao clube, a saída de Belmonte não tem a ver apenas com a pressão da torcida; O dirigente alega que tomou a decisão por não concordar com as negociações de Julio Casares para a criação de um fundo de investimentos para as categorias de base do clube.
Em valores, o São Paulo pretende captar R$ 250 milhões de investidores, dos quais R$ 200 serão aplicados em Cotia e os outros R$ 50 milhões para reduzir a dívida do clube. Em troca, os investidores ficarão com 30% do lucro com a venda de jogadores da base. O projeto foi aprovado pelo Conselho de Administração e será analisado pelo Conselho Deliberativo.
